KARA

Kara is a solid pine chair in which the material's properties guide the form. It begins with a single element: a rounded rail that references the spindle of a pine log. From there, the chair follows the wood's own logic. Pine is soft, so the forms need weight. The profiles are deliberately strong, giving the piece the character the material demands. Soft transitions balance that solidity, and the result is a sculptural whole that feels simultaneously sturdy and inviting.

But mass alone makes furniture clumsy. The challenge was to carry that weight without losing practicality. Despite its substantial structure, Kara is stackable and useful — a chair where sculptural presence and everyday function arrive at the same answer.
